The PAX4 series printer by Zebra has reached end of life, so it’s time to say goodbye to the old and start anew, just like the circle of life.
We all know of the circle of life right? The cycle they always explain, with the video of the cats running across the plains while you hear Elton John sing “The Circle of Life”, the whole concept where everything that lives will eventually die. The printer world has something similar. I like to call it “the circle of technology”, where a printer goes into end of life and a better, more improved printer takes it place. This can be seen with Zebra announcing the discontinuation of the Zebra 110PAX4 and 170PAX4 printers. Only to be replaced by the Zebra ZE500 Series printers.
Designed with the customer in mind, the Zebra PAX4 series took the printer world by storm with its incredible serviceability, fast first label out speed, and fully functional real time clock. As well as, wireless and Ethernet, with real-time connectivity that allowed for instantaneous alert or status messages, and even centralized control. Plus, it was all encased in a sturdy all metal constructed shell for integration into harsh printing environments. Making it one of the performance leaders in mission critical print and apply application. It is unfortunate that the Zebra Pax4 Series are being discontinued, however, as one product gets discontinued something else moves in to take its place, and for Zebra that is the ZE500 Series.
The ZE500 Series is Zebra’s suggested replacement, and not a bad one at that, for the PAX4 Series. Designed to maintain mission critical print without interruption, while also continuing to ease the strain of using the equipment, the ZE500 Series allows for simplified maintenance with its open design, allowing for the ribbons to be remove in under three minutes without messing with the electronics, not only reducing downtime but making the procedure very straightforward. The graphic display card only adds to the ease and flexibility of the product with the ability to be deported and rotated to the users liking. The user-experience has also improved with the design, enabling the easy compatibility with print and apply machinery, along with an expanded connectivity network, and a software control upgrade to top it off. These added features certainly make the ZE500 Series a very viable replacement.
But, before you rush off and buy another printer I would suggest taking a look at the Go Zebra Trade-In program. This promotion allows you to trade in your old printer and get cash back on the purchase of a new one. It’s even eco-friendly.
With the Zebra PAX Series end of life rapid approaching, a new opportunity has arisen. You now have an excuse to get a new printer. Whether you go with the ZE500 or not, you start another journey where the old journey has ended. Just like the circle of life, the circle of technology continues to roll, with always something to improve on. You just have to detach and throw those old junky models away to make room for the new and significantly better. So if your printer has reached its end of life, you might want to replace it and let it complete its cycle, in the circle of technology.
