OLD Way (cave man way) … When a company ships a product, they typically will print a barcode shipping label and a separate packing slip. The barcode shipping label is typically printed on a thermal barcode label printer. The packing list is printed on laser or dot-matrix printer. If the packing slip is not placed in the actual container, it usually will be attached to the outside of the box in a small plastic sleeve. This operation takes several extra steps to ship the product. First, print the shipping label, and attach that to the shipping container. Next, print a packing slip, fold it, and insert it into a plastic sleeve. Peel back the plastic backing on the sleeve and apply that to the shipping container.
A revolutionary, new type of printer from SATO America, one of the largest manufacturers of thermal barcode label printers in the world, has solved the problem of printing two different documents, eliminating the extra steps it takes for the packing slip and the support of two different printers for this operation.
NEW Way! … It is simple. Print one form, a shipping label on the front of a label and a packing list on the back of this same shipping label.
That sounds impossible! How has SATO America accomplished this?
It’s easy with the new and revolutionary SATO America barcode thermal label printer – a printer that has two printheads and simultaneously prints different information on the front of the label (the ship to information on the front of the label, and the packing list on the back of the label).
Once printed, the shipping label is then applied to the shipping container. On the bottom portion of that label is a statement instructing the recipient to pull a tab on the shipping label, and the label comes off with the packing slip on the back of the label. The packing list is totally free of glue and is 100% clear. Everything is completed in one simple, smooth operation.
