Honeywell’s Intermec printer maintenance contracts (Intermec Medallion Service Plan) or any contracts for servicing your products, is a question of is it worth it. You don’t want to pay for a contract that may cost you more in the long run than it would just waiting for your product to need service.
Let’s look at the facts. Intermec offer two ways of repairing your Intermec printers – Depot and On-site service. I will break down each Intermec service and see how is stands up to an Intermec Medallion Service Plan.
An average Intermec depot flat-rate service cost is about $652.00 and includes many parts but not all of them – you could end up paying more. Inermec’s depot center can get your product back to you within 15 business days, which is equivelant to about 1 month). The customer must pay for shipping their printer to Intermec both ways.
Having a Intermec Silver 2-Day Depot Service Plan allows you to have unlimited service calls per printer serial number and all parts are covered (except consumables and add on options). The turn around time is 2 business days from the time they receive the Intermec printer. Intermec pays for return shipping to the customer.
An average On-site Intermec printer repair will cost you $170.00/hr for both labor and travel both ways. The customer is also responsible for paying for mileage each way of $0.59 each way. When you call to have your Intermec printer repaired you are given a best effort for a response time (contracts are taken care of first). All parts will cost you additional money.
When you have an Intermec Gold On-Site Service Plan you don’t pay for any travel, including mileage, when a service call is needed. All labor is included in the plan no matter how long it takes to repair the Intermec printer. A service technician will be at your place of business within 2 business days (if you have Intermec’s Platinum Plan a service technician will be on-site next business day). Customers don’t pay for any parts needed (except consumables).
Both the Intermec Silver 2-Day Depot Service Plan and Intermec Gold On-Site Service Plan can be quite a savings compared to not having one. In my estimation, it seems to be a no-brainer to purchase one of these plans to keep your Intermec printers from having these unexpected costly service needs.
